Michael Birnbaum QC and Neil Griffin defending Mundil Mahil accused of murder

Ms Mahil is accused of luring Gagandip Singh to his death after he tried to rape her six months earlier.  Michael Birnbaum QC, opening the defence case, told the jury that Ms Mahil had told a number of people that she was worried friends of hers wanted to attack Gagandip. She made it clear that she didn’t want him harmed. Ms Mahil has accepted a substantial degree of moral responsibility by inviting Singh to meet her on the pretext she wanted to speak to him alone. However she had thought that he would merely be spoken to about his behaviour and possibly be given a few slaps. Ms Mahil has been giving evidence this week.
