Elizabeth Smaller prosecuted a step-father for serious sexual offences against his 7 year old step-daughter

In sentencing the defendant to 20 years' imprisonment the trial Judge, His Honour Judge Browne QC referred to the defendant's conduct as a 'campaign of rape... involving every humiliation'. The 7 year old complainant gave evidence in the case - requiring sensitive handling by all parties.
