Narita Bahra

Narita Bahra appeared on Radio 4's Woman's Hour on the 28th of December. She was discussing "vicarious traumatisation as a consequence of jury service" based on recent research conducted by Leicester University. Dr Noel Robertson author of the worldwide research was also interviewed, as were jurors who claim to have suffered from vicarious trauma. Vicarious trauma is a very recently diagnosed condition and the panel discussed what steps can be taken to address it in reality. I totally agree that the issue of juror's trauma needs addressing further. I've been a volunteer for the Witness Service at a Herts Crown Court for 10 years and have long been considering the need for a confidential listening service, perhaps staffed by trained volunteers. Can you tell me if anything similar is currently in the process of being set up or at least being considered?
