Anita Saran is a non practising door tenant.

Anita is an experienced and respected criminal barrister who has defended and prosecuted in all areas of criminal law including serious crime and fraud. She has also developed a particular expertise in sexual offences, which has resulted in her appointment to the CPS list of Specialist Rape Advocates. She has appeared both on her own behalf and as a junior in a number of significant cases.

Anita was heavily involved in the private prosecution for the Hillsborough Family Support Group (manslaughter case re the Hillsborough disaster).

  • R v. Bakar. Defence junior in a murder.
  • R v. GR. Defended in this case of causing death by dangerous driving. Defendant acquitted.
  • R v. Johnson and others. Defence junior in a multi-handed drugs conspiracy. The trial lasted three months, and the client was acquitted.
  • R v. L and others. Defended in a violent disorder and grievous bodily harm case which involved ten defendants.
  • R v. Carter and others. Defence junior in an international car ringing, repair fraud and insurance fraud concerning luxury vehicles. Junior in a series of complex car ringing and insurance fraud conspiracies.
  • R v. Dumbliauskus and others. Defence junior in multiple rape / false imprisonment trial. Client acquitted.
  • R v. Kelly and others. Defence junior - the defendant was one of a group who over a period of three years, by the use of firearms, hi-jacked and robbed high value lorry loads.
