Practice Areas and SpecialisationsSarah is an experienced advocate who both prosecutes and defends.
She has appeared frequently in cases involving rape and serious sexual and physical abuse and has dealt with young, vulnerable witnesses and defendants as well as persons with mental and physical disabilities (including those requiring intermediaries).
She also has experience of cases involving serious fraud, evasion of duty, drugs and breach of export licensing regulations.
She is regularly instructed by various CPS branches in the South East, the Revenue and Customs Prosecutions Office, the Post Office's legal department, the Department of Work and Pensions, Westminster and Ealing borough councils, Kent Police and defence solicitors in London and the South East. She has also represented individuals before various disciplinary bodies ( including police officers and persons appearing before the Nursing and Midwifery Council). |

Fraud
R v. W. Prosecuting a solicitor who fraudulently purchased a Westminster property pursuant to the "right-to-buy" scheme
R v. N. Prosecuting an orthopaedic surgeon for money laundering and cannabis cultivation.
R v. K. Defending conspiracy to defraud a bank involving allegations of false accounting and fraudulent trading.
R v. J. Defending a landlord alleged to have fraudulently evaded income tax and capital gains tax on an extensive property portfolio.
R v. K. Prosecuting a breach of export regulations by virtue of supply of materials for purpose of Pakistan's WMD / nuclear proliferation programme.
R v. S. Prosecuting a multi-handed excise fraud involving evasion of duty on fuel.
Sexual assault
R v. T. Prosecuting a doctor for drugging, incapacitating and raping women having seduced them via a matrimonial website.
R v. A and A. Prosecuting a mother and stepfather for extensive sexual and physical abuse of children, lesbian rape, rape of prostitutes, rape by young defendant with Asperger syndrome of younger sister.
R v. R. Defending a police officer accused of sexually assaulting teenage girls whilst on duty.
R v. A. Defending a 13-year-old girl accused of sexually abusing 10 and 11-year-old boys involving application to stay for abuse as a result of non-disclosure.
R v. H. Defending a 16-year-old boy accused of gang-rape involving extensive applications as to previous sexual behaviour, bad character of complainant and abuse of process.
Disciplinary
Defending a psychiatric nurse accused of raping a patient; a general nurse in a managerial position accused of possessing paedophiliac images; and a nurse accused of assaulting and mistreating an elderly and exceptionally vulnerable patient.
Sarah is currently instructed by the RCPO as junior in Operation Duma. This is a multi-handed missing trader intra-community fraud involving an evasion of VAT in excess of £45 million.
Associated Work
Sarah is a Gray's Inn advocacy trainer and has lectured on the topic of disclosure and provided training to officers at Westminster City Council.
