Practice Areas and Specialisations

Simon has prosecuted every kind of criminal case at every level of seriousness.

He is one of the most experienced leading juniors at the criminal bar.

In the last 12 months he has prosecuted (either leading or on his own) contested trials for the following departments of the Metropolitan Police:-

• SCD1 (Homicide Command)

• SCD6 (Economic and Specialist Crime)

• SCD7 (Serious and Organised Crime)

• SCD9 (Human Exploitation and Organised Crime)

• The Middle Market Drugs Partnership

and also for SOCA (Serious Organised Crime Agency)

and also for the Sexual Offences sections of various boroughs.

Education and Qualifications

Qualified to receive instructions through direct public access. Simon is a member of the European Circuit.

Cases of Interest

In the last two years his cases have included:-

- three-handed Operation Maxim case involving the illegal bringing into the UK (on false papers) of 66 Pakistani nationals.

- three-handed Operation Maxim human trafficking and controlling prostitution case involving bringing in "sex workers" from Hungary.

- conspiracy to murder case (a wife taking out a contract on her husband).

- rape cases, including "cold cases" and gang rapes.

- a case investigated by the Directorate of Professional Standards in which a police gaoler was proved to have stolen thousands of pounds in cash which had been seized in a police drugs raid.

. prosecution of a consultant surgeon for laundering £4m from the cannabis trade.

- prosecution of a Crown Court jury officer for misfeasance in a public office.
