Alexandra Healy is a criminal fraud specialist. She is named by The Legal 500, The Chambers & Partners Guide and Legal Experts as one of the country's leading fraud barristers.

 

Alexandra has a broad practice, which encompasses the whole range of criminal offences, whilst particularly excelling in the field of fraud.

 

She has recently defended an accountant as a leading junior in a £10 million VAT fraud/money laundering case. She defended a large multi-national company in respect of a highly complex investigation into anti-dumping offences. As a leading junior she defended a former police officer against charges of misconduct in a public office, involving a six month surveillance operation into unauthorised accessing of the Police National Computer.

 

She has recently prosecuted as a leading junior a fraud on the land registry and the Probate Division for the FPD and is currently instructed to prosecute a dentist accused of defrauding the NHS and a series of frauds on various charities.

 

She is currently instructed to defend in Operation Inertia, a substantial MTIC contra trading case.

 

She has prosecuted and defended in numerous cases involving sexual offences and vulnerable witnesses, including as a leading junior. She has, as a junior, both prosecuted and defended in high profile murder cases, including the Black Widow (R v. Thompson) and R v. Jaggs (the son of a Harrow School master) and R v Chenery Wickens. She has regularly undertaken trials involving allegations of drugs, firearms and violence.

 

She was instructed to act as Independent Counsel to review legally privileged material in the 'Cash for Honours' investigation.
